The Vibrant Zing of Fire Cider in Every Pinch

Fire cider's sassy alter ego, in salt form. Hibiscus brings the floral-fruity tang, orange peel the sunshine, and garlic, turmeric, and a lil' habanero keep things warm and savory underneath. Made from the same ingredients as our Hibiscus Orange Fire Cider, worked into coarse unrefined mineral salt for a flavorful sprinkle instead of a sip.

A pinch wakes up roasted carrots, avocado toast, grilled shrimp, or a bowl of popcorn.

Why You'll Love It

✿ The Two-Second Egg Upgrade: A pinch over a fried or soft-boiled egg gives plain breakfast some unsolicited, bold opinions.

✿ Tang Without The Splash: All the bright, vinegary bite of fire cider in a sprinkle. Soups, fresh melon, and sourdough slices get a quick, lively lift.

✿ For a Rim That Steals the Show: Run a lime or orange wedge around the glass and dip. A tart, golden rim makes a margarita or bloody mary look as good as it tastes.

Ingredients

American-made unrefined mineral salt, apple cider vinegar*, orange peel*, onion*, rosehips (Rosa rubiginosa & R. canina)*, turmeric*, hibiscus (Hibiscus sabdariffa)*, garlic*, habanero pepper*, raw Appalachian honey

*Certified & non-certified organic

about the botanicals

Close-up of a cluster of fresh turmeric roots with soil attached, surrounded by green foliage.

Curcuma longa

turmeric

Turmeric is the underground stem of a ginger relative that's been used as medicine in Ayurveda for thousands of years, and it's the source of the golden color in curry powder. Its pigment is fat-soluble and blooms beautifully in olive oil and butter. Earthy, faintly peppery, and rounded out here by orange peel.

Hibiscus sabdariffa

hibiscus

The fleshy red part used in food and medicine is the calyx, the ring of sepals around the seed pot. Long used in folk medicine across West Africa and beyond, it's called flor de jamaica in Mexico, sorrel in the Caribbean, and bissap in Senegal. Tart as a cranberry, hibiscus brings a distinctive floral-fruity tang.

Rosa spp.

rosehip

The orange-red fruit a rose leaves behind, gathered across Europe for centuries as food and medicine. In World War II, British schoolchildren collected wild hips for syrup used to help prevent vitamin C deficiencies because citrus was scarce and hips are among the richest plant sources of vitamin C. Tart and faintly apple-like.

FAQs

How do I use this finishing salt? What does it go on?

Finish dishes with a sprinkle just before serving. It's great on:

  • Fresh melon or citrus segments
  • Avocado toast or guacamole
  • Roasted root veggies
  • Grilled shrimp, scallops, or lobster tails
  • Crispy roast chicken
  • Popcorn with olive oil
  • Roasted chickpeas or spiced nuts
  • Creamy soups like carrot-ginger or butternut squash
  • Fresh goat cheese or burrata with drizzle of honey

Can I use it as a rim salt?

Yes. Run a citrus wedge around the rim, dip the glass into a shallow plate of salt, and you have a tart, spiced hibiscus salt rim. Margaritas, polomas, bloody marys, and citrusy mocktails are all good matches.

Can I cook with it or just use it as a finishing touch?

It shines brightest as a finishing touch, but you can absolutely cook with it for added depth of flavor.

Is it spicy?

It has a gentle warmth from habanero, balanced by citrus and herbs, but it's more of a warm tangy glow than a burn.

How long does it last?

Unrefined salts are naturally shelf-stable; for best flavor, enjoy within 1 year.

Is this is the same as fire cider?

It's made with the same ingredients as our Hibiscus Orange Fire Cider, but it's a seasoning, not a replacement for the original. A pinch on your food is a very different thing than a shot of fire cider. Think of this salt as flavor first.
